Company Overview
United Heritage Insurance is a family of companies that combines life and property & casualty insurers under our Mutual Holding Company. Our companies were founded over a century ago and have served our communities and customers with financial strength and service excellence through many key events in our country’s history. Our 200 employees and thousands of independent agents across the country strive to meet our vision every day.
United Heritage Mutual Holding Company (UHMHC - the Holding Company) was formed under the laws of the State of Idaho. The Holding Company is the ultimate parent company in the organizational structure and is controlled by policyholders. The Holding Company owns 100% of the stock of United Heritage Financial Group (UHFG or United Heritage.) UHFG is the intermediate parent company with administrative and shared services functions that serve all our companies. Our primary operating companies are outlined in the organization chart below.
Our primary headquarters are in Meridian, Idaho on an eight acre campus just minutes from Boise, Idaho and include the operations of UHFG, United Heritage Life Insurance Company (UHLIC), and United Heritage Property & Casualty Company (UHPC). The home office of Sublimity Insurance Company (SIC) is located in Sublimity, Oregon just east of Salem, Oregon.
Company History
1896 - The Farmers Fire Relief Association of Sublimity (later known as Sublimity Insurance Company) began operations
The company was originally formed as a mutual insurance company by local farmers, and operated in the home of its first president, Charles Hottinger.
1908 - Canyon County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company (later known as United Heritage Property & Casualty Company) began operations. The company held its first meeting in John Steel’s packing house near Roswell, Idaho.
1934 - Grange Mutual Life Company (later known as United Heritage Life Insurance Company) began operations
The company originally was licensed to provide affordable life insurance to Grange Members living in Washington and Idaho.
1954 - Sublimity Fire Insurance Company was adopted as the new name for The Farmers Fire Relief Association of Sublimity
1958 - Grange Mutual Life Company opened its business to the general public
1961 - Grange Mutual Life Company moved into a Company owned building located in Nampa, Idaho
1967 - Sublimity Fire Insurance Company built a new home office and moved to its present location in Sublimity, OR.
1972 - Sublimity Insurance Company was adopted as the new name from Sublimity Fire Insurance Company
1991 - United Heritage Mutual Life Insurance Company was adopted as the new name from Grange Mutual Life Company
An American bald eagle in flight was chosen as the new logo.
1992 - Idaho Mutual Insurance Company was adopted as the new name from Canyon County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company
2000 - The Company became the owner of Idaho Mutual Insurance Company, renamed to United Heritage Property and Casualty Co
This marked the Company's first foray into property and casualty insurance.
July, 2001 - The Company moved its operations from Nampa, Idaho, to a new visible state-of-the-art headquarters in neighboring Meridian, Idaho
August 2001 - United Heritage Life Insurance Company was adopted as the new name from United Heritage Mutual Life Insurance Company Policyholders overwhelmingly voted to convert the Company's corporate structure to a Mutual Holding company. As a result, the Company was renamed United Heritage Life Insurance Company, and became a wholly owned subsidiary of United Heritage Financial Group, Inc.
2003 - United Heritage Financial Group, Inc. became the owner of Sublimity Insurance Company of Sublimity, Oregon
Sublimity Insurance Company provides auto, homeowners, and fire coverage from its headquarters in Sublimity, Oregon.
2015 - The Company opened its second office complex in Meridian, Idaho on the existing corporate campus featuring a sustainable and energy efficient design
2017 - The company further expanded sustainable operations. Replacing company vehicles with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, adding electric vehicle charging stations, adding solar roof panels, retrofitting new LED lighting in existing buildings, and adding recyclable materials to supplies.
