Company Profile

Company Overview

The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth as a result of the health care reform law signed by Governor Patrick on August 6, 2012 to improve health care quality and contain health care costs. Prior to the passage of this law, most of the functions and responsibilities of CHIA were performed by its predecessor, the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy.

The mission of the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) is to be the agency of record for Massachusetts health care information, to responsibly steward sensitive and confidential data, and to objectively report reliable and meaningful information about the quality, affordability, utilization, access, and outcomes of the Massachusetts health care system.
